The brow lift 

What is a brow lift?

A brow lift is a cosmetic procedure to reposition your forehead, reduce wrinkles and make you look more youthful. It allows you to tighten the skin in problem areas. The choice of technique to be applied is determined by the anatomical features of the patient's facial structure.

What does a brow lift do?

The procedure is often performed after the age of 40. A brow lift procedure corrects:
1.    Creases or wrinkles in your forehead, the horizontal lines across your forehead, and the bridge of your nose.
2.    Vertical frown lines between your eyebrows, also known as the “11s.”
3.    Sagging eyebrows (hooded eyes) to make your eyebrows look more youthful and awake. 

3 Steps for Brow Lift Procedure

1.    A classic brow lift is performed under anesthesia and involves an incision that starts just above the ear level and follows the hairline up the forehead to the next ear. Carefully lifting the skin of the forehead enables adjustment of the fat, tissues, and facial muscles, if necessary.
2.    To correct a high forehead, your surgeon might recommend the incision follow your frontal hairline. If your hair is longer and will get in the way of the procedure, you may have to trim it. If your hair is shorter, you may want to grow it out to cover any scars.
3.    In the course of surgical intervention, the removal of excess soft tissue is carried out. In this case, incisions are made behind the pubic area or receding hairline.

Endoscopic brow lift

An endoscopic brow lift is a minimally invasive procedure performed under anesthesia. After making a series of small incisions hidden in the hair, the surgeon uses specialized equipment to gently release and elevate the brow tissue. The size of the incision does not exceed 1-1.5 cm. A camera installed in the endoscope and displaying the image on the monitor is used for maximum accuracy. 

Canthoplasty

Canthoplasty is performed at the outer corner of the eye (the canthus), in the section where the lower eyelid and upper eyelid meet, which is medically referred to as the lateral canthus. For the majority of people, this meeting point should be positioned just above the medial canthus, which is the junction of the lower and upper eyelids, near our noses.
The main indications for surgical intervention are:
•    The decreased tone of the lower eyelids.
•    Congenital drooping of the outer (outer) corner of the eye.
•    Cleft eye narrowing.
•    Blepharophimosis and trachoma.

 

Eyebrow threading

Eyebrow threading is the process of removing eyebrow hair using a piece of thread. The thread is typically made of cotton and is relatively thin to allow a stronger hold on each strand. As a result, a reinforced framework is created that allows the skin to be kept taut. The duration of the procedure does not exceed 30 minutes. The estimated recovery period is 2 weeks.

Preoperative preparations

1 month before the operation, it is recommended to refrain from smoking and drinking alcoholic beverages. During this period, you can take medicines after prior agreement with the doctor. It is forbidden to take aspirin and other drugs that can affect blood clotting during the entire preparatory period before plastic surgery.

Contraindications

Eyebrow lifting is contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Surgical intervention should be refused:
1.    When chronic diseases become acute;
2.    In blood clotting problems;
3.    In some endocrine disorders (thyroid gland, diabetes);
4.    In oncological diseases;
5.    In severe cardiovascular system pathologies.

Rehabilitation 

Prohibited within 1 month after surgical muscle lift:
1.    To smoke;
2.    Face massage;
3.    Intense physical exertion;
4.    Use of alcoholic beverages.
Taking a hot bath is a contraindication during the rehabilitation period after eyebrow lifting surgery. In addition, it is forbidden to go to sauna and bath.

It is not recommended to lift heavy objects or do sports during the recovery period. Most people who receive a brow lift can return to work or school within 10 to 14 days. The timeline for your recovery varies and depends on the type of procedure you had and the type of activity you’re planning to return to.  The recovery period itself is individual.
